Our Mandate
Sentinel Search Fund is a segregated mandate that is part of the Sentinel Family Office. The fund also has a global mandate with a preference for searchers in Europe, US and LATAM markets.
We are industry agnostic and focus on market and business fundamentals in assessing potential investment opportunities. We work with the full spectrum of searchers including single, partnered, traditional and self-funded searches.

As Sentinel only serves one investor, there is less bureaucracy on decision making as well as a unique view on liquidity and risk when compared to the other institutional investors. This enables our principles to take a more agnostic investment approach based on economic principles as opposed too hard restrictions by fund mandates. What is a Search Fund
Stage 1
Searchers form an investment vehicle made up of a diversified group of aligned investors. Investors provide the searcher with mentorship & capital in order for the searcher to successfully find, acquire and operate an SME for the medium to long term.
Stage 2 & 3
The search period requires the entrepreneurs to assess the general economic environment, sellers’ willingness to sell and regulatory burdens, while diving into specific industry characteristics and generating deal flow. These factors can considerably delay the acquisition process if not managed accordingly.

Once the searcher has successfully implemented the value creation plan, realisation of returns for both investors and principals are generally sought via different liquidity events such as M&A, IPO dividend distributions & recapitalisations.
